Terms of Use

Effective date: 26 October 2026

1. Parties and acceptance

These terms are between you and Ekin Barış Çakır (Sevgi Mahallesi 665 Sokak 7/6 Gaziemir İzmir Türkiye, lapis@ekinbariscakir.com), who provides Lapis; Apple is not a party to them. By using Lapis you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy.

Because you got Lapis from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) also applies. These terms add to it; if they conflict, Apple's agreement takes precedence.

2. What Lapis is

Lapis shows you, step by step, how to draw in graphite on real paper. There are two kinds of content:

  • Lessons: drawing steps we prepare.
  • Photo Guide: drawing steps generated by AI from your own photo.

3. Age

  • Lapis is not directed at children.
  • Photo Guide is for users 18 and older only. By using Photo Guide you confirm you are 18 or older.
  • If you are under 18, you may use Lapis only with a parent's permission, and you may not use Photo Guide.

4. Pro subscription

  • Pro unlocks all Lessons and a monthly Photo Guide allowance. The current allowance and price are shown on the purchase screen.
  • Apple handles purchase, renewal, cancellation and refunds. The subscription renews automatically, charged to your Apple account, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. If the price changes, Apple tells you in advance and asks for your consent where required. To cancel: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
  • A free trial lasts as long as shown on the purchase screen. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the subscription starts and you'll be charged. A Photo Guide left unused in the trial doesn't carry over.
  • Unused monthly Photo Guides don't carry over to the next month.
  • A Photo Guide counts against your allowance when its first Step is made. It is given back only if the first Step can't be made, if the safety filters refuse a Step (this ends that Photo Guide), or if a Step before the last one can't reach your phone after repeated tries (this ends it too). In other cases, for example if you don't finish a Photo Guide within 2 days or don't like the result, it still counts.
  • Refund requests go to Apple. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

5. Photos you use for Photo Guide

  • You confirm you have the right to use the photo you pick or take: you took it or have permission to use it.
  • If the photo shows identifiable people, you must have their permission (for children, their parent's).
  • Your phone cuts the subject out of the photo, and only this cut-out is sent to us. You keep all rights to your photos. You give us permission to use the cut-out only as needed to generate your Photo Guide; this permission ends when the Photo Guide is finished or expires.

6. Prohibited use

You may not use Lapis for:

  • Photos involving child sexual abuse, or sexual content.
  • Uploading someone's photo without their permission, or processing personal data unlawfully.
  • Harassment, hate, violence or unlawful content.
  • Impersonating someone to deceive others, or presenting AI output as entirely human-made to mislead.
  • Reverse engineering, automated requests or other abuse of the app or server.

These rules include Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy (https://policies.google.com/terms/generative-ai/use-policy). The AI provider's safety filters may refuse some photos. If you break these rules, we may restrict your access to Photo Guide.

7. AI-generated content

  • Lesson and Photo Guide step images are generated by AI.
  • AI can make mistakes: steps may differ from your photo, be incomplete or look odd. Each Photo Guide comes with one free redo: you can have a Step drawn again, or follow another Take of it, and the Steps after it are drawn again. We can't promise a redo will look better.
  • You may freely use Photo Guide steps and your own drawings for personal, non-commercial purposes. A drawing you make by hand on paper is yours.

8. No guaranteed results

Lapis is a learning tool. We don't guarantee that you'll reach a particular skill level in a particular time, or that your drawing will match the steps.

9. Intellectual property

The app, Lessons, design and the name "Lapis" belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy or sell Lesson content, or use it in another product.

10. Changes to the service

Features, Lessons and the AI models we use may change as we improve Lapis. Photo Guide needs iOS 17 or later, an internet connection and third-party services, and may at times be slow or unavailable. A Photo Guide has to be finished within 2 days of starting it. To prevent abuse and keep costs under control, the number of Photo Guides per network per day is limited, and new Photo Guides may be paused for a while; Photo Guides you already started can be finished.

11. Limitation of liability

Lapis is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect damages, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Lapis in the last 12 months. This limit doesn't apply to intent, gross negligence or consumer rights that can't be waived.

12. Changes and termination

We may change these terms and will tell you in the app about significant changes. You can stop using Lapis at any time by deleting it (you need to cancel your subscription separately with Apple).

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live still apply.
